when i find time to sit back + reflect on my life + how far i've come-- through all the roles I've had to all of the experiences that have shaped my reality-- i will always remember writing as one of the things that saved me. i've always been a writer. whether my words made all the sense, or none at all. i've always been a writer. before i learned how to prejudge myself on whether or not I was enough for it or how bad i wanted it. in hindsight, none of it mattered, except the fact that i just learned how to keep doing what i know how to do.. just keep on writing. 

at 20 years old, i published my first poetry book, 'unapologetically, me' at the height of learning how to define myself through self-love and self-discovery. 

in 2017, i published my first e-book, 'an ode to CTRL'. this was written as a collection of response poems after being deeply moved + enamored by sza's latest album, 'CTRL'. 

these works inspired me to not only continue my journey as a writer, but to proclaim myself as such. to walk + be in it. whether i'm doodling in my notebook or journaling as a form of self-care, writing has always brought me back to myself.
